Support in the community
Gilgal are creating Trusted Community Contact Points.
These are safe, welcoming spaces where women feel comfortable seeking support, such as GP surgeries, places of worship, mental health clinics, and community centres. Whether you need support with personal safety, housing, legal proceedings, or emergency accommodation, you’ll be able to talk, ask questions, and access free, confidential support.
You’ll meet one of our friendly Support Workers (who are also qualified IDVAs or ISVAs*), who can guide you through what you’re facing; signposting to other women’s services, help with form filling, and access to financial and mental health support.
Just pop in and have a chat – we can offer both group work and one-to-one sessions for more private support. Our drop-in sessions are casual, welcoming, and completely confidential, with no referral or appointment needed. Come along for a cup of tea and a conversation with other women – along with support from Gilgal staff, the sessions are a great place to meet new people and share and learn from each other.

Small Heath Drop-in
Sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month, from 10am-12pm.

We’ve been hosting these sessions for a while in this quiet, community-focused space. A member of the Gilgal team – an experienced Support Worker and qualified IDVA – will be on-hand to offer personalised support and guidance.
West Heath Drop-in
Sessions are held every Friday morning, 9.30-11.30am, beginning 22 August 2025.
Held at:
West Heath Community Centre
Hampstead House
Condover Road
B31 3QY
Venue info: www.westheathcommunity.co.uk
This is a new weekly session created to make it easier to reach out and talk to someone, and we’ll be here every Friday morning. A member of the Gilgal team – an experienced Support Worker and qualified ISVA – will be in attendance with friendly support and a warm welcome.
During term time there’s a Stay and Play group next door at West Heath Community Centre, so your children can have fun while you focus on getting the support you need.
*Trained professionals, including IDVAs and ISVAs, support our drop-ins.
IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate):
Supports women at high risk of domestic abuse, advocating on your behalf with police, legal, and housing services. They can explain the court process, attend meetings like MARAC, and ensure your voice is heard.
ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advocate):
Offers practical and emotional support to those affected by sexual violence – whether recent or historic. ISVAs provide guidance through police interviews and court proceedings, always working with a trauma-informed, confidential approach.
Just drop in – no RSVP needed
Whether you’re looking for support, information, or just someone to talk to, our sessions are open to all women. There’s no need to book or call ahead. If you’d like more information, you can email us at: mail@gilgalbham.org.uk
We’ll be introducing more sessions and locations later in the year to extend our outreach to more communities across Birmingham. This is all part of our mission to raise awareness of violence against women and girls, and provide preventative support in our community.
