Moving On

Our goal is to give women and children time to heal and help them move on with their lives.

Support without dependency

The Gilgal refuge is a short-term stop gap for women in crisis, as they take their first step towards a new life, away from domestic abuse.

We do our utmost during women’s stay at Gilgal to support but also empower them to re-build their lives themselves, for them to take an active rather than passive role in making decisions and thinking about their future.

Re-build self-esteem

The Gilgal values of safety, freedom, equality, respect and empowerment are always fore-front of mind as we build women’s self esteem. We talk about these aspects of life and how to achieve them.

Practical help

On a practical level Gilgal staff assist women with grant applications and obtaining furniture to furnish their new homes. We aim to support throughout the moving process, assisting women to settle into their new community. Our Children’s Worker offers a similar service to ensure children’s needs are not forgotten.
